Last weekend, I headed up to Sydney to attend the PMA Expo (a huge photographic tradeshow), and of course sit in on the judging of the APPAs - the Australian Professional Photography Awards. For me, this is an opportunity catch up with old friends, and meet heaps of new people, check out new products, and be inspired by amazing people. This year was a particularly memorable year for me though, for over the last 3-4 years I have had the pleasure of growing and learning with an incredibly talented bunch of photographers, and this year, I had the pleasure of watching them shine - their smiles will forever be etched in my mind. I feel so incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such a talented and inspiring group of women.
For most photographers, the APPAs is a culmination of months of hard work, a nerve wracking experience that involves Australia’s top photographers critiquing your work - it’s a heart wrenching experience, but the rewards are worth it if you have the courage to enter - it’s not for the faint hearted. The judging runs over a period of 3 days, and you can choose to enter your images into a vast range of categories, however, you can only enter a maximum of 4 images in total.
A lot of people have been asking me what images I entered, and how did I go - well I squealed just as hard as my friends did as the results came in. Below are my award winning images this year so far - they include the APPAs, the NSW AIPP Awards, and other.
APPAs - Silver with Distinction (88) / NSW State Awards - Silver

APPAs - Silver

APPA - Silver / NSW State Awards - Silver

Head-On Photographic Portrait Prize - Short listed / NSW State Awards - Silver
