This year for the very first time, I entered the combined ACT/NSW State Professional Photography Awards held in Sydney on Sunday and Monday.  I also decided to make the journey up to Sydney and watch the judging, an invaluable opportunity for me to meet some of the best photographers in both NSW and the ACT.

Believe me, this was such a daunting and very humbling affair - my work would be critiqued against the best of the best that NSW/ACT had to offer.  Well I am extremely proud to announce that one of entries received a Silver award.  I cannot tell you how amazing this feels - lil ole me, an award winning photographer.

So here is my award winning image

Now I also wanted to show you one more image.  This image was one point off winning a silver award

I am running terribly behind with my blogging.  So much to blog, and too little time - I had such a busy week last week.   But whilst I play catch up, I just had to show you this.  My son took this image yesterday.  I had handed my camera over to him thinking he could snap a few shops of Harriet and I.  Actually, he was directing me, you know “work the camera mum” - I thought it was pretty cute.  I was just after perhaps one semi-half decent shot of me in focus with my baby girl.

So when he gave my camera back, I excitedly scrolled through the images and there she was in every single image.  I had no idea Ruby was there above me - NO IDEA.  My dismay very quickly turned into fits of laughter.   Real life is worth capturing isn’t it.   I know that I had this as my tag line for a reason - it’s because these are my most favourite images, and the ones that I will treasure for ever.   And Will, awesome capture darling boy.

Her mother didn’t like to yell, so instead she said,

“Harriet, my darling child. Harriet, you’ll drive me wild.

Harriet, sweetheart, what are we to do?”

“I’m sorry,” said Harriet, and she was.

Just another day.

You cannot imagine my excitement when these arrived in the post last week, they are simply adorable.  **Sigh** they are almost too cute to give away.

Have just arrived home from the high country, tired and weiry, but not quite as tired as my husband.  We went up to watch him ride in the Three Peaks Challenge, but the weather had it own challenges in stall.  The torrential rain and thunderstorms were relentless.   The day was wild and wooley, so for us, there was a lot of this

And here the pictures stop for the day due to the rescue mission.  But this morning was beautiful so we decided to head out and make the most of it before our journey home.

I just wanted to very quickly let those lovely pregnant Mums that have contacted me regarding this post, I will be in contact with you all next week.

Have a lovely long weekend.

For those of you that read my blog, you will probably know by now that I am a very proud member of ACOCP.  It stands for Australian Community of Child Photographers.   If you are a local, or are going to be in Melbourne at the beginning of June this year, I encourage you to visit the “Heartfelt Exhibiton” where you can view my work, amongst many other very talented photographer’s work.

I gave it a red hot go.  Being a photographer and all, I mean, I absolutely should be able to capture all three of my children in the one shot, and produce something brilliant - right.   Ummmm, arggggg, NO, I admit it, and I am embarrassed to tell you how many frames I shot, just to get one decent image.

Is it just me, or do we all find our own children the hardest to capture? Well let me just clarify that, it is when all three of them are together, feeding off each other wickedness - lets make this really hard for Mummy, that’s the wickness I mean.  All those little tricks I know, and usually work a charm, well I know now, I need to come up with something new ****sigh****

But, I do love this one particular frame I captured, and so for this week - here it is.  My one and only:-
