The truth be known, I could have quite happily taken these two and a half year old twin boys home with me. Not only were they irresistibly cute, but they were full of love and life, and soooooo much fun to be with.

I am often asked how I photograph Newborns, and I think this session is a perfect example of my style. I love to mix a few naturally posed images with a predominately lifestyle approach. To me, this is a much more organic style of capturing new life. I am very content with the notion that my style is not for everyone, because I try to achieve something very different with my approach. First and foremost, I am trying to capture true connection, and “real life”. For me, this just cannot be captured in a studio. I want your memories to be authentic. The focus is on the entire family unit as your day unfolds – we are celebrating the whole family.

Actually, I think that Mum and Dad are the super hero’s in this family. Two 3 1/2 year old twins boys, and a newborn baby boy – I just loved the energy of this young family.

Every year, just once a year and at my favourite time of the year, I offer an Autumn Mini Session Special.

This is the perfect opportunity for you to jump in and get some updated professional images taken, without the expense of have a full family session. These great little photography sessions are a boiled down version of my regular sessions! You will still receive awesome imagery, great service and have a great time! These sessions are for my past client and new clients alike.

These sessions are not just for families, couples love these session to.

This year, I have decided to do things a little differently, with a view to being a little more flexible. I am offering my mini sessions over a 2 week period, rather than on two days only. By doing this, I hope that I can fit in with your busy schedules, and cater for inclement weather.

AIPP State Awards [Canberra Childrens Photographer]

For those of you that have not heard of the AIPP, it stands for the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers. The AIPP is Australia’s leading membership body for the photography community. Supporting professional photographers at all stages of their careers and enabling them to become accredited to the photographic organisation that is the AIPP. Every year, the AIPP runs the Photographer of the Year Awards in each State, which is then followed by the National Awards know the APPAs (or the Australian Professional Photography Awards) in May. Each year for the past three years now, I have made the journey up to Sydney to watch the NSW/ACT awards that were judged over the last couple of days.

Sometimes I wonder why I put myself through this agony, as it is a gruelling process from start to finish. From the weeks of trying to decide just what images to enter, to refining these images, to the printing and mounting and then finally, putting your work out there to be critiqued by 5 of the top photographers in Australia, in full view of the rest of your colleagues State and Australia wide. Why do I do it? Ahem, I am crazy I think. The reason I do this, is because I firmly believe that it is the only way for me to improve. And now, as I have watched my journey from starting as an emerging photographer within the AIPP, to becoming a fully accredited photographer just over a year ago, to becoming a multi-award winning photographer, in the short time-frame of 3 years, I can see just how much I have improved in every aspect of my work from year to year.

I am really excited to announce that I received 5 Silver Awards this year, all within the Family Category. Here are my award winning images for the ACTNSW State level for 2012……

And that is exactly what we did. A beautiful afternoon spent with a gorgeous family – Maya, so full of life, and just totally blew me away by counting to 10 at the age of 2 3/4, and Murphy (cutest name ever), just walking a kinda cute sideways stumble. And just as we finished off our photo session, down came the rain.

As mentioned in previous posts, I am slowly but surely photographing my products so that you can see just how beautiful they are. This is my Artbook, and is probably one of my most favourite items in my products catalogue. This beautifully crafted book is truly luxurious, printed onto fine art paper, and individually handstitched in blanket stitch. At this time of the year, Canberra is usually hot and very very dry. This year has been so different, infact, I have never seen Canberra so beautifully green. Sun, rain, sun, rain and so it goes on – of course making it very difficult to keep to schedule. This weather feels almost tropical.

This beautiful family were oh so very patient and finally, we had a lovely picnic amongst the flowers and the bush.
